Doolittle Park is located north of the village of Birchwood on beautiful, Birch Lake. The campground offers 40 sites with electricity and water. Amenities include: flush toilets, showers, dump station, great swimming beach, firewood, boat docking, playground, picnicking.

It was the early 1900's and Fred Thomas was living the life that young boys dream of. He was playing professional baseball. Fred was batting at pitches thrown by Walter Johnson and hoping his line drives would get by the glove of Ty Cobb. His teammates were the likes of Everett Scott, Harry Hooper and Babe Ruth. Fred Thomas was playing third base with the Boston Red Sox. The highlight of his career was in 1918, when he helped Boston win the World Series against the Chicago Cubs. When Fred retired from Baseball in 1924, he knew where he was headed. He, his wife, and small sons were off to the wilderness of northern Wisconsin to build their dream -- a resort on Big Lake Chetac. From a primitive beginning with no roads, electricity or running water, Fred and his wife, Connie, built a modern-day resort. Fred and Connie were determined to offer the best and the slogan "Perpetually New" has stood as a reminder to that commitment. The Thomas family continues the management in the Fred Thomas tradition of "Perpetually New". This concept of continually upgrading the resort's facilities has ensured beautiful and immaculate accommodations that guests come back to enjoy year after year.

This 100 year-old home with large lawns is very comfortable and spacious with many areas, nooks and rooms to "get away for a while” to read a book or meditate (or nap!). There is even a hot tub! Wet a line from the one of the two docks or take the 14’ Sylvan with 10hp outboard and explore Red Cedar Lake. Fishing is great (walleye, northern, sunfish, bass, crappie, etc.)! Kayaks, canoes, a paddle boat as well as a swim raft are waiting for you to use and enjoy! The lake is clear and the area in front of the lake-side gazebo overhanging the water is a gravel/sand mixture to dig your toes into! There’s a boat lift for your boat and easy access to launch at the nearby landing. This unique home was once a part of The Stout Estate and served as the home for the family of the estate’s gardener and caretaker. The home has several bedrooms, living room, dining room, large kitchen, a hot tub room, a bunk room and a large game room. There’s even a standalone lakeside cottage (Bailey’s Cottage) if you really need to get away from everyone! Everything has been updated including new AC throughout the home. Weekly only rentals between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
